Legal Studies

Trattasi di un corso estivo di Legal English formato da 20 lezioni a settimana (15 ore). Il corso è stato progettato per studenti con un livello minimo IELTS 6.0 o C1, che necessitano di migliorare il proprio inglese giuridico. Il corso include la preparazione per l'esame ILEC.

La scuola è Centro Esami.
 
Le lezioni si concentrano sulla comprensione di concetti giuridici, conoscenza del diritto e sviluppo del lessico e della terminologia giuridica.

Il corso combina studio di casi, pratica e discussione su problematiche giuridiche.
Il programma si svolge dal 02/07/12 al 21/09/12 ed ha una durata di 2/12 settimane.

Le lezioni vertono sui seguenti argomenti:

1. introduction to UK & EU law
2. public international law
3. conflict of laws
4. commercial & consumer law
5. law of sale of goods
6. contract law    
7. corporate criminal law
8. human rights
9. law & justice
10. current affairs & the Law

Preparazione esame ILEC:

1. stesura di documenti legali e lettere
2. comprensione di documenti legali
3. negoziazioni
4. interviste
5. costruzione del lessico specialistico e miglioramento della pronuncia

Sono previste, inoltre, visite guidate presso la Bournemouth Magistrates' and Crown Courts, Royal Courts of Justice e la Old Bailey a  Londra (il costo non è incluso nel prezzo del corso e sono soggette a disponibiltà).

University of Cambridge ESOL - International Legal English Certificate (ILEC)

The ILEC is a University of Cambridge ESOL Examination produced and assessed by Cambridge ESOL Examinations in collaboration with TransLegal, Europe's leading firm of lawyer-linguists.  BBSI is an accredited ILEC Examination Centre.  English is an essential tool for any lawyer working with international matters, and employers need to know that the legal staff they appoint have a sufficient level of English to be able to communicate with clients and professionals in other countries.  At the same time, law students and newlyqualified lawyers need to be able to show employers that they have the required language skills.  The ILEC examination allows candidates to demonstrate their skills, and therefore to increase their employability.  It is based on realistic texts, tasks and topics of the kind legal practitioners might meet in their daily working lives.
